About

Clausthal University of Technology (TU Clausthal) is located in the town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the smallest university town in the country. The university has about 90 professors, 420 academic staff and about 2,800 students, and is located in the southwestern part of the Harz mountain range, a typical tourist spot for outdoor hiking and winter sports. The university was founded in 1763 to train mining engineers, and although mining declined in the 1930s, many mines are still intact, and several have been converted into museums. Today, TU Clausthal is an internationally oriented university with several different disciplines.
