The Section for Experimental Biomedicine aims to be an important contributor to research with experimental laboratory animal models.

Avout the section

In 2021, The Faculty of Veterinary Sciences moved into state-of-the-art facilities on Campus Ås, and are co-located with the rest of NMBU. Here our section can offer housing and assistance for experiments with animals and offer a number of different animal models: model fish (zebra fish and medaka), salmon, rodents and production animals.

We have extensive experience and a high level of expertise in the field of laboratory animals and research assistance. Our employees have backgrounds such as biologists, veterinarians and veterinary nurses and other technical backgrounds. The section is responsible for teaching experimental animal studies for NMBU's veterinary and veterinary nursing students, and we can also offer training to researchers.

Feel free to contact us if you want to know more about what we can offer you and your project.

Our facilities at the lab FISH-VET offer access to fish housing, breeding and use of several advances instruments specific for research on model fish (zebrafish/medaka) and salmon, allowing infection, toxicology, behavior studies, and more. We also provide training programs on fish biology and associated techniques.
