Limits of class size:Minimum 18 students, maximum 26.
Course frequency: Annually. Requires planning and organisation of the fieldwork by students. Reservation based on the security situation.
Nominal workload:125 hours. (30 hours preparation, 40 hours field work, 30 hours analysis, 7 hours presentation, 18 hours report writing and editing.
Teaching and exam period:This course starts in August block. This course has teaching in August block and examination in autumn parallell.
About this course
Workshop and lectures about European cities, urban regions as spatial systems, and Norwegian city regions. Study trip with field work to one of Europe's major metropolitan areas.
Learning outcome
The students will be able to analyze and describe an urban region as a spatial structure. They will have knowledge of European planning traditions, and first hand experience with the impact of modern techniques in European urban planning. They will be able to identify planning issues on a regional scale, and knowledge about present day processes and strategies.
