Help desk for digital project work

SITRAP's help desk for digital project work is a service for both students and employees in the use of digital tools. A team of academic staff and students employed as learning assistants have the responsibility to follow the development of digitization within the practice of spatial planning, to guide students in this aspect of their education, and to advise the faculty's policy in this area.

The help desk is a student-run offer for students who need help getting started with digital tools or acquiring more advanced digital skills. It is possible to get help digitally and via physical studio courses. The students involved in SITRAP's help desk document the use of digital tools, which issues are addressed, and follow developments within this field.

Implementation

Third and fourth-year NMBU students are employed to develop guidelines and guidance tools, and to encourage the use of innovative software that can be tested in student projects. Organizationally, the help desk will be closely linked to the teachers responsible for NMBU's GIS courses and the VR lab, where we have our most advanced digital infrastructure.

Expected impacts

Extensive contact between students and SITRAP's help desk, which integrates the use of digital tools and software into students' project work.

The aims are to strengthen the progressive and critical use of digital tools within spatial planning, and to facilitate a learning environment where students learn how to learn. By monitoring the innovation and usability of such tools, we will acquire a broader insight and better prerequisites for becoming decision makers in the development of software for planning purposes.
