Basis for Evaluation

The basis for the evaluation is:

  • Application
  • Interview

To qualify for recognition as an ETP, the applicant must meet all criteria areas to a large extent.

The applicant will be evaluated according to all criteria areas, and the committee will assess the applicant’s qualifications against each criterion. The evaluation will be qualitative, based on the criteria, with two main perspectives: the applicant’s holistic approach and the integration of knowledge and pedagogical practice.

A guide has been developed for the evaluation committee to use:

The applicant is encouraged to familiarize themselves with the guide, as it can be a useful tool for understanding what the committee emphasizes in their evaluation and how the application can be best structured.

Applicants who meet all formal requirements will be invited to an interview. The interview will give the committee the opportunity to ask complementary questions about the application. The interview will last a maximum of 45 minutes.

About the Evaluation Committee

Applications that meet the formal requirements will be evaluated by an evaluation committee. The evaluation committee must have a broad academic representation and the following composition:

  • A pro-dean/head of studies at NMBU who will lead the committee.
  • An external member with professorial competence in higher education pedagogy/other work related to educational quality and/or merit-based recognition work.
  • An external Excellent Teaching Practitioner (ETP).
  • A representative from NMBU's Excellent Teaching Practitioners (ETP).
  • A representative from the Department of Teacher Education and Educational Science at NMBU.
  • Two students appointed by the Student Parliament from different academic disciplines.

Feedback to Applicants

All applicants will receive written feedback on their application. The applicant will be evaluated according to all criteria areas, and the feedback should describe and assess the applicant’s qualifications in relation to each criterion area.

The feedback should conclude with an overall evaluation of the application and interview, along with a recommendation on whether the applicant should be awarded recognition as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner.

In the case of a rejection, the feedback should also highlight areas for improvement and clearly indicate which aspects the applicant needs to further develop in order to achieve recognition as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner at a later time.

Recommendation

The evaluation committee recommends applicants who qualify for recognition as an Excellent Teaching Practitioner. The administration submits the case to the University Board, which grants the status of Excellent Teaching Practitioner based on this recommendation.
