Personlig informasjon: Jeg er utdannet i biologi og kjemi fra det tekniske universitetet i Kaiserslautern (Tyskland) og ble tildelt doktorgraden (Dr. rer. nat.) fra Universitetet i Hamburg (Tyskland) i 1993 for en omfattende studie om persistent organisk forurensninger (POP) i den Nordtyske ærfugl bestanden (Somateria mollissima (L.)). Jeg er i dag professor ved Fakultet for kjemi, bioteknologi og matvitenskap (KBM), Norges miljø- og biovitenskapelige universitet (NMBU) i Ås. Jeg har tett faglig samarbeid med det veterinærmedisinske fakultetet (her Institutt for mattrygghet og infeksjonsbiologi). I tillegg underviser jeg miljøkjemi på bachelor og master-nivå ved Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT, PR China), skole for miljøforskning. Jeg er også UArctic strategisk leder (UArctic Chair) for arktisk forurensningsforskning ved University of the Arctic (UArctic) academisk nettverket.
Forskningen min kombinerer moderne kjemiske analyseteknikker og risikovurderinger for ulike typer organiske forurensninger (etablierte og nye miljøgidfter) i mat og miljøprøver. For dette forskningsarbeidet bruker jeg avansert spore-analyse teknikker inkludert høyoppløselig væske- og gasskromatografi kombinert med massespektrometri og andre relevante detektorer og opparbeidelsesmetoder. Mitt nåværende geografiske rettet mot miljøforskning i arktiske strøk og nye forurensninger i mat.
Fagaktivitetene innen organisk miljø- og sporeanalyse er en del av NMBUs bioanalytisk forskningsteamet

Barentsburg (Svalbard), Hornsund, Ny-Ålesund (North-Western Spitsbergen) and West-Greenland (Nuuk & Sisimiut).

SCIENTIFIC KEY QUALIFICATIONS: Isomer-, congener- and enantiomer selective analyses of organic pollutants with GC-ECD, GCxGC/ECD GC-FID, GC-PND, GC-LRMS (EI and NICI) and GC-HRMS (EI and NICI) as well as GCxGC-TOF and HPLC-MSxMS (QqQ) related methods. Chemical-analytical and ecotoxicological considerations about the fate of organic environmental contaminants is a central scientific goal. The following research describes the main research focus of the Kallenborn group:
- Method development for detection and quantification of emerging organic pollutants,
- Environmental Risk assessment,
-Climate change and contaminants in the Arctic and Northern Region,
- Micro- and nano-plastics in the environment,
- VOCs in indoor environments,
- Remediation of contaminated media,
