Interdisciplinary Master's Project 2025 is now open for registration. Join an interdisciplinary and social community during the writing period.
Writing a master's thesis does not have to be a solo project. By participating in an interdisciplinary master's project, you become part of a learning community with other students and your supervisor, and you gain increased interdisciplinary insight into your chosen master's thesis topic.
The offer is for all students at NMBU who will write a master's thesis in spring 2025.
Activities under the interdisciplinary master's project:
- Start-up and mid-term seminars: Students present and discuss each other's work. Practicing communicating your thesis to others outside your study program is very good learning!
- Joint outings and relevant academic lectures
- Monthly academic lunch
The offer provides an academic and social network that will be very useful during your writing period.

Thesis topics
Participating students must write a master's thesis within one of three main themes, all of which are linked to sustainable development:
- Oslo Fjord 3.0 – About the Oslo fjord's environmental challenges.
- Hovinbyen - Urban development and circular economy as driving force
- Campus development – Sustainable campus development at NMBU

"Writing the master's thesis can be a bit lonely. Here, you get both strengthened social ties and useful perspectives on your thesis. With interdisciplinary insight, you are better equipped to handle complex problems. Working like this is very relevant to working life. I think all students who are going to write a master's thesis in 2025 should check this out!"
