NMBU's University chaplain

Øystein Solberg Mathisen is our new student chaplain at NMBU from summer 2024. He has extensive experience in his work area, and is available for anyone who wants a conversation. If you need someone to talk to, consult or discuss with, he is available for a chat. The University Chaplain’s office is located in the basement of the Clock Building on the left-hand side. Next to the office you will find a quiet room open for all students. This room can be used by all students wanting to pray, meditate or just need of a moment of silence.

What can you talk to a priest about?

EVERYTHING! The University Chaplain is a conversation partner for everyone who needs someone to talk to, big or small. With the university chaplain you can talk about everything from exam nerves, studies, death and grief, to love, faith and finding your way in life. The University Chaplain has a duty of confidentiality.

It is also a focus for the University Chaplain to highlight that all religions and all students have the right to religious practice, and there for everyone, no matter what your background or beliefs are. It is not always easy to talk with friends or family members, and you may need an experienced person who can provide a different perspective.

Office hours

The University Chaplain is available for conversations on weekdays. Please contact her directly to schedule a meeting.
