According to university rankings, Wageningen is the world's best in the field of Agriculture. In addition, in 2022 for the 18th year in a row, Wageningen was ranked the best university in the Netherlands by its students. Wageningen is very internationally oriented with similar academic fields as NMBU and known for its high academic quality.

  • The agreement applies to various areas within the Life Sciences: landscape architecture, urban and regional planning, development studies, economics, plant science, water and environment, agroecology, livestock science, aquaculture, food science, biotechnology, biology, ecology, environmental physics, renewable energy, forestry, geomatics, environmental studies, tourism etc. The agreement applies to bachelor*, master and PhD level.

    Length of Stay

    1 to 2 semesters.

  • All Erasmus+ agreements require the completion of 60ECTS prior to a stay abroad begins.

    *To apply to Wageningen, 120ECTS must have been completed prior to the exchange begins.

  • English. All third year bachelor courses, plus all master’s level courses are given in English. First and second years of bachelor degrees courses are taught in Dutch.

    Wageningen requires B2 in English skills. It can, among other things, be documented with a minimum of 4 in English from VGS.

  • Autumn semester: end of August - January.

    Spring semester: February - June.

  • Erasmus students must continue to pay for NMBU’s semester fees, plus register with NMBU whilst they are on exchange. However, it is not necessary to pay any types of fee at the partner university.

  • There is a limited number of rooms reserved for exchange students, so you must be prepared to look for private accommodation. Note there is a high demand for housing in Wageningen which results in reduced housing availability.
