ESALQ - Escola Superior de Agricultura

NMBU has one partner university in Brazil, located in the city of Piracicaba in São Paulo state, which is also the name of the capital. São Paulo is the largest city in the southern hemisphere and is the economic and industrial centre in Brazil. Just under 400.000 people live in Piracicaba, and the city houses the oldest agricultural university in Brazil, ESALQ - Escola Superior de Agricultura , which belongs to the University of São Paulo. NMBU has an agreement with ESALQ, but on request it can also be planned exchange to other departments at the University of São Paulo.

Brazil is the world's fifth largest country with one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. The country is the home to about half of the population in South America, and the differences between the rich and the poor is great.

  • The agreement is specifically for exchange to ESALQ - Escola Superior de Agricultura, but exchanges to other units of the University of Sao Paulo can also be planned upon request.

  • Applicants are chosen according to average grade scores achieved upon application. A minimum grade of C is required.

    All exchanges require a completion of 60ECTS prior to a stay abroad.

  • Bachelor and master.

  • Portuguese and some English.

  • Upper secondary school (norsk: videregående skole): Average grade of 4 in English or TOEFL test.

    Portuguese knowledge is demanded if the applicant will take courses. However, it is not demanded for project advising or fieldwork.

  • Students studying using the exchange agreement are exempt from paying tuition fees.
