Erasmus+ Global Mobility

Overview

Erasmus+ Global Mobility (KA171) gives the NMBU the opportunity to apply for funding for mobility in partner countries outside the EU/EEA (third countries that are not associated with Erasmus+). Funding is sought for selected regions, in selected countries and institutions.
The main focus is on incoming students and staff.

The announcement takes place annually in early spring.

About the programme
Global Mobility is an initiative under Erasmus+ for cooperation on the exchange of students and staff between Norway and approved partner countries outside the EU/EEA area. The partner countries are grouped into regions with different available budgets. Due to the fact that some regions are given higher priority than others, it is important to apply strategically.
Existing partnership countries are prioritized, in accordance with the countries NMBU prioritizes.  

In the program period 2021-2027 there are quite a few changes in the regions. For more information about the regions, please see the program guide.

In the new program period you apply for specific regions instead of specific countries. You still have to indicate in the application which countries you intend to cooperate with. There will be some flexibility when it comes to transfers between countries in the same region, but the details for this is not known yet. Please note that it is not possible to send bachelor- or master students to third countries that can receive development support (ODA - official development assistance)

The Department of Academic Affairs coordinates a unified application on behalf of NMBU. NMBU applies on behalf of its partners in approved partner countries.

Aim of the program

• Making educational institutions in Europe more attractive and support them in competing in the global education market.
• Greater internationalization and modernization of higher education institutions outside of Europe.
• Promote cooperation and knowledge for youth between program countries (European countries) and partner countries (countries outside Europe).

Duration

Students may be granted stays with a duration of 3-12 months as an integral part of their degree, both at Bachelor, Master and PhD level. Please note that the main focus in incoming students and staff. 

Staff may be granted teaching or training stays with a duration of 5-60 days.

Student internships

Global Mobility is open for non-academic organizations. This applies for all regions in the budget. The duration is between 2-12 months on all study levels.

The internship can be combined with studies, but then the duration has to be 3 months minimum. Note that in this case this should be registered as student mobility in the application form, and not as internship.

Staff mobility to and from non-academic organizations

Staff going on Staff Mobility for Training have to be from a institution of higher education to a non-academic organization. Staff going on Staff Mobility for Teaching have to be from a non-academic organization to an institution of higher education.

Content

Both the sending and receiving institution must agree on what activities they will perform during the exchange together with the students and staff. This is defined through a Learning Agreement (if student) and a Mobility Agreement (if staff). An Institutional Agreement must be signed in order for the exchange to take place. These agreements can be prepared after the applicants have been granted support, but needs to be signed before the mobility takes place.

Financing

Funding and facilitation of payment to students or staff is determined in a Grant Agreement signed by NMBU and the participants in the project.

Individual support for student: Incoming: 900 Euros, outgoing: 700 Euros

Individual support for staff: Incoming and outgoing 180 Euros until day 14. From day 50 euros per day will be paid.

Travel support: From 180 - 1100 Euros depending on the distance.

Support for special needs: It is possible to apply for additional support when needed.

The agreements will be sent to the participants after they have been selected and approved by NMBU and have to be signed by all parties before the exchange begins. The Erasmus+ grant can only be paid if the contracts are signed by all parties.

Distribution of responsibility

The sending institution is responsible for selecting participants, helping the participants with preparations, following up students/staff during the exchange, and acknowledge the exchange formally.

The receiving institution offers the participants a study program (if student), or a teaching or training stay (if staff) at their institution.

Recognition

The receiving institution provides a diploma to the student(s).

The sending institution must acknowledge the activities the student has completed during the exchange, and register this in the student's academic transcript from NMBU.
