We had an incredible time in Stavanger hosting Skatteforum – the annual Norwegian tax policy conference that creates a meeting place for academics, tax administration, ministry officials and civil society. This year’s Skatteforsk lecture was given by Nadine Riedel from the University of Münster, with the title “International Taxation – Quo Vadis?”.

Over the course of two days, we had the privilege of listening to presentations on cutting-edge research related to taxes and other relevant topics. The conference also included two panels. The first consisted of Ron Davies, Nadine Riedel, and Naomi Feldman who, from the editor’s point of view, shared insights on what it takes to get research published in journals. In the second panel discussion Nadine Riedel, Nina Schanke Funnemark, and Andreas Fjeldskår gave their perspectives on whether international tax collaboration can be consolidated.

The conference concluded with two engaging events at the KåKånomics festival. The first was a panel discussion on uncovering and combating economic crime, featuring Økokrim Director Pål K. Lønseth, Director of Skatteetaten Nina Schanke Funnemark, Professor Annette Alstadsæter, and Vidar Ivarsen as moderator. The second event was an enlightening conversation between Ron Davies and Arun Advani, discussing the potential role of tax policy in breaking wealth dynasties.
Both events were well-attended and sparked valuable discussions. We extend our gratitude to Kåkånomics for facilitating these important conversations.

Finally, we would like to express our appreciation to everyone who joined us in Stavanger, both researchers and others, for contributing to a fantastic two days. Your participation and input truly made it a week to remember!
