This research covers analysis of energy markets, in particular markets for electricity, regulation of energy markets, as well as analysis of drivers of energy consumption. It also covers studies of people’s perceptions about energy production such as wind power plants. Furthermore, the research includes analysis of interactions between climate policies and energy production and consumption.
Projects
- Enabling the Green Transition in Norway (ENABLE): ENABLE investigates how to foster public acceptance of renewable energy and transport solutions essential for Norway’s green transition. The research focuses on offshore wind, sustainable mobility, and grid flexibility, offering insights to shape effective climate policies. Led by Steffen Kallbekken (CICERO), with participants from CENCE: Frode Alfnes, Knut Einar Rosendahl, Sharon Nytte, and Anders Dugstad. (Research Council of Norway, 2020-2024).
- FME RenewHydro: RenewHydro aims to develop knowledge and solutions that enable flexible hydropower to support the realization of energy transition and achieve national energy, climate, and environmental goals. Participants from CENCE/KREM: Anders Dugstad and Ståle Navrud (2024-2032).
- Green transition of energy markets: This is a long-lasting research topic, exploring how energy and climate policies may affect the green transition of the energy markets. One core topic is technological improvement of renewable energy technologies, and policies to spur innovation and cost reductions. A combination of theoretical and numerical analysis is mostly used. CENCE participants: Emil Karlsen, Audun Moss, Stefano Ninfole and Knut Einar Rosendahl
