Skatteforsk - Centre for Tax Research is excited to announce the availability of a Postdoctoral position within empirical public economics located at the amazing NMBU campus outside of Oslo. We seek applicants with an interest in tax evasion, avoidance, and enforcement/policy in low and middle-income countries. The application deadline is the 15th of March. Skatteforsk - Centre for Tax Research is an independent research centre at the NMBU School of Economics and Business. Our international network includes the EU Tax Observatory, Centre for the Analysis of Taxation, Columbia University, University College Dublin, and more.
We are looking for applicants with an interest in one or more of the following topics:
- Real-world consequences of tax avoidance and evasion,
- Individual's use of tax havens, illicit financial flows, and capital flight,
- Tax enforcement/policy in low- and middle-income countries
Applicants should discuss their interest in and experience with these topics in their cover letter. Additionally, applications must include a more detailed 2-3 page research proposal on one of these topics as well as examples of completed research relevant to the topics and public economics overall.
The successful applicant will be part of the central research group based at NMBU, and collaborate with our international network of more than 70 researchers hailing from prestigious institutions around the world. Our dynamic and interdisciplinary environment fosters direct interaction between established scholars and early-career researchers, while focusing both on producing cutting-edge scholarship and fostering the development of our members. At Skatteforsk, we place strong emphasis on dissemination and active engagement with academics, policy makers, and journalists. An example of this is the Atlas of the Offshore World, a new effort in collaboration with the EU Tax Observatory to inform the global debate around international tax evasion and avoidance. The candidate will work closely with Professor Annette Alstadsæter and others.
