Oslo Urban Week (OUW)

Oslo Urban Week (OUW), organized by the Oslo Metropolitan Arena, is a workshop for improved urban development, a meeting place for those who are engaged in the development of the cities and local communities of the future. This year SITRAP is hosting an event at OUW.

We invite you to two talks about how we can improve teaching and learning in urban development.
When: Wednesday 13 September
Where: National Theater Conference Center, Oslo.

Small and large urban development projects require cooperation in constantly new constellations. Over two events at OUW, SITRAP will discuss the culture of improvement in urban development. This involves transferring lessons learned from one project to the next. Do we have a culture for this in urban development?

Part 1. Wednesday 13 September, at 10:00-12:00

In the first section, attention is directed to the understanding of problems in the industry. Do we value the efforts of others? Could we learn more from our own experiences?

Here, Maren Hersleth Holsen, Divisional Manager Planning & Urbanism, Henning Larsen Norway, Lene Basma, Divisional Manager Project Development, Drammen Municipality and Salman Saeed, Regional Director Housing Development Oslo East, Skanska Eiendomsutvikling will share their experiences.

Part 2. Wednesday 13 September, at 13:00-15:00.

In the second part, we take a look at subject areas where learning transfer is a prerequisite for success. To give us more insight into what characterizes group performance and how we can best serve each other, we will be joined by Erik Thorstvedt (team sports), Camilla Frey (improvisational theatre), Robert Mood (military peace operations) and Bugge Wesseltoft (jazz). We welcome these perspectives from people from fields far removed from urban development and spatial planning. We are excited about what we can learn from their experiences of performing in various collaborative constellations.

To comment on the overall question of how we can facilitate the transfer of learning in urban development projects, we will be joined by representatives from ByLab Oslo (Sigrid Furuholt Engelstad), Doga (Ingerid Helsing Almaas, senior advisor, responsible for early-phase architecture), Byarkitektrollen (to be confirmed), and Oslo Metropolitan Area (Ida Hjeltnes, director of development).

From SITRAP, Terje Holsen is moderator in the first group, Marius Grønning for the second group and Elin Børrud (SITRAP centre manager at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences).
