Learning outcome
The student will demonstrate knowledge about the relevance of landscape planning in the society and the significance to sustainable development at local and regional level
Knowledge about the European Landscape Convention and its contribution to to local and regional planning
Knowledge about the coherence between natural, historical, human (relational) and territorial and the importance this knowledge to sustainable landscape management.
Knowledge about Norwegian and international research and practice in dynamic and innovative landscape management
Knowledge about the multifunctionality of landscape and its importance for place identity
Knowledge about regional and municipal planning according to the Planning & Building Act and related legislations, and how to activate planning for Development in line With the UNs Sustainability Goals.
Skills:
The student will acquire skills in identfying, characterizing and evaluating landscapes, develop strategies in multidisciplanary Groups and link it to planning according to the Planning & Building Act
Skills in designing a project for analyzing a larger landscape area or Territory, including Natural and Cultural distinctiveness and Resource potential for community development
Skills in communication with actor groups and evaluating in information from interviews and other Sources, and analytical and Critical interepretations.
Skills in formulating scope and structuring an individual assignment on advanced level
General competence
The student will be able to conduct own learning process, complete assignments and critically evaluate theories and methods related to the topic, and to reflect over own learning
Ability to reflect over own competences and to work in interdisciplinary project groups
Ability to perform written presentations of theories, methods and professional solutions to the topic, with correct references
Ability to prepare and perform presentations to a professional as well as general audience.
The course will make the students able to work with management and development planning in complex landscape situations. This knowledge includes tools for landscape assessments, stakeholder involvement and strategic planning as described in the European Landscape Convention
