About this course
Introduction to elementary programming for problem solving. We will use computers and modern software for learning elementary programming by considering numerical solutions of mathematical problems associated with the introductory mathematics courses at Realtek and Handelshøyskolen.
The programming language Julia is used for implementation and computations.
Learning outcome
- Lectures and practice groups with group work and practical problem solving with programming.
- Teaching assistants provide assistance during the computer labs.
- Experience in using computers in daily life.
- Matehmatics at the S1/R1 level (or higher) in Norwegian high school.
- Written examination, 3 hours. A-F.
One written exam Grading: Letter grades Permitted aids: C1 All types of calculators, other aids as specified - The external and internal examiner jointly prepare the exam questions and the correction manual. The external examiner reviews the internal examiner's examination results by correcting a random sample of candidates exams as a calibration according to the Department's guidelines for examination markings.
- Mandatory exercises (hand-ins). Requirements for approval of mandatory activity will be announced at the beginning of the term.
- The course is planned to be reworked in connection with next year's subject revision, and will run for the last time in its current form.
- Lectures: 2 hours per week for 13 weeks.
- Computer labs: 2 hours per week for 13 weeks.
