About this course

This course gives an introduction to programming of geographic analysis and programmatic handling of geographic data. In the course you will be introduced to different analysis methods within GIS and get practical experience in handling, managing, manipulating, and analysing geographic data.

Learning outcome

The student should after completion be able to conduct fundamental analysis of and with geographic data in Python, write code that analyse and visualize geographic data, and be able to read and understand code at a similar level of complexity.

    Lectures, exercises and self study. All exercises involves the use of Python.

    GIS - Introduction (LAD102), or other equivalent introductory GIS course

    GMGI210. INF120
  • Assessment method
    The grading of this course is based on a portfolio, consisting of exercises and a project assignment. The exercises amounts to 40% of the final grade, and the project assignment amounts to 60%.

  • Examiner scheme
    The external and internal examiner jointly prepare the exam questions and the correction manual. The external examiner reviews the internal examiner's examination results as a calibration according to the Department's guidelines for examination markings.
