- Create fundamental insight in and understanding of innovation and the meaning of innovation for value creation in bio-based industries.
- Introduction to innovation. Innovation teams, creativity and innovation. Sources of innovation.

Learning outcome
Knowledge
Throughout the course the students will gain knowledge of various types of innovation, innovation theories and the relationship between research, innovation and development in biobased industries.
The students will further develop insight into innovation processes, creativity in innovation, creative teams, making decisions under uncertain circumstances and the importance of cross functional knowledge and learning for the innovation process. The students should also develop an understanding of how innovation in bio-based industries can lead to improved sustainability.
Skills:
The students will, through experience-based learning about innovation in the field of bioeconomy be able to develop ideas, screen these ideas and test them in an early phase in the innovation process.
The students shall develop an ability to work in cross functional teams.
General competence:
The student should develop general abilities in communication and team-work in cross functional teams. Problem understanding and problem solving in cross functional teams.
