About this course
You will get a practical overview of key parameters in fish farming.The teaching will predominately take place in our modern Recycling Aquaculture System facility (RAS Fishlab). You will get an introduction to fish feed evaluation in our small-scale feed factory ("Fôrtek").
Learning outcome
Knowledge
Students have basic knowledge of
- Anatomy and physiology and the salmon's life cycle
- Modern fish feed, feed evaluation
- Properties of RAS facilities, water quality
- Behavior in salmonids
- Fish experiments and calculation of production parameters
Skills
- Dissect fish and calculate basic biometric properties
- Measure important indicators for water quality in fish farming
- Carry out a basic evaluation of fish feed
- Calculate basic production parameters in fish farming
- Assess behavioral traits in salmonids
General competences
- Basic knowledge of practical conditions in Norwegian fish farming as a useful basis for the theoretical specialization subjects that come later in the study
