Learning outcome
Knowledge
- Be aware of the most important theories within organizational psychology
- Understand how empirical research is used to test and support theories in psychology
- Understand how psychological theories may be applied to improve productivity and well-being in organizations.
Skills
- Be able to differentiate between key assumptions related to different psychological theories and approaches.
- Be able to evaluate typical challenges in organizations (e.g., related to motivation, learning, or decision making) in light of psychological theories and principles
- Be able to identify which psychological theories and methods that may be utilised to address typical challenges in organizations.
Other learning intentions
- Increased awareness of the importance of psychological processes related to work life.
- Increased motivation to learn more about the subject.
- Lectures on campus. During the lectures, demonstrations, group tasks and small experiments will be conducted to apply theory on practical problems. Active participation is expected.
- None in particular other than contact with the teacher.
AOS130 Introduction to Organisation Theory, or equivalent course.
Introductory course in statistics (equivalent to STAT100 Statistics).
- Examination 3.5 hours, counts 100%.
One written exam Grading: Letter grades Permitted aids: A1 No calculator, no other aids - An external examiner will review the syllabus and the exam.
This course has a compulsory assignment, where the students are going to participate in a research project. The activity takes about 30 minutes and will be done online. The purpose of the activity will be described in one of the lectures.
Students who have completed the compulsory assignment earlier do not have to redo it.
