About this course

This online course includes central themes on leading people and teams. The course perspective is linked to social sustainability and have strong focus on Norwegian work life and own leadership role.

The course starts with exercises in self-reflection and analysis of own leadership skills and strengths. Review of theory and discussion of practice on the following topics:

  • The "Norwegian model" in work life
  • Governance and leadership
  • Ethics and social interaction
  • Leadership behavior
  • Teams and team leadership
  • Communication and change management
  • Power and influence

Learning outcome

Knowledge: The students will have basic knowledge on leadership in organizations and the worklife in Norway.

Skills: The students will have obtained skills in self assessment, and role analysis.

General competence: The students will have general competence in understanding, analysing and discussing leadership functions in organisation with particular focus on social sustainability.

  • Learning activities
    The course is based on active participation from students. Learning activities are digital lectures, self-reflection activities and individual written assignments.
  • Teaching support
    Canvas.
  • Assessment method
    3 hours digital home exam after working hours. Pass/fail assessment.

  • Examiner scheme
    External examiner will control the quality of syllabus, questions for the final examination, and principles for the assessment of the examination answers.
  • Mandatory activity
    There will be weekly individual assignments, 6 in total. 4 out of 6 assignments must be completed to access the final exam.
  • Teaching hours
    3-4 digital video lectures per week, available on Canvas.
  • Preferential right
    Only accessible for students enrolled in the one-year study programme in Sustainable Business and Management (KVU-BEDØK)
  • Admission requirements

    Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (GSK).
