Changing the Exam Time Due to Conflicting Exams

Our university's written exam schedule is carefully planned each semester, to ensure that students enrolled in mandatory courses don't have exams scheduled at the same time. Additionally, exams must be spread out throughout the exam period to accommodate the available exam rooms on campus.

Students who take elective courses or required courses outside of the standard study plan may face exam conflicts.

It is generally difficult or impossible to reschedule an exam schedule once it's set. The main reasons being that finding a new time that avoids exam conflicts for all enrolled students can be challenging. There may not be enough available exam rooms. A new exam schedule must also suit the course responsible. Exam times for large courses (many registered students) will generally not be able to be changed.

How to apply for a reschedule of an exam?

  • Contact timeplan@nmbu.no to find out if there are any days/times when it might be possible to reschedule the exam. Proposed new exam times must fall within the established exam period.
  • The deadline to apply for a change is after the registration deadline (to establish who is taking the course/exam) and well before the withdrawal deadline for the exam in question, see the academic calendar for deadlines.
  • It is a requirement that all students registered for the course in question must give their written consent to any reschedule of the exam.
