In 2017 Liland was employed as a top scientist in data science at the Faculty of Science and Technology where he is currently developing courses and lecturing, supervising master and PhD students, and conducting research in method development and applications. He was approved as a professor in statistics in 2021.
Liland has worked as a researcher at Nofima from 2012 to 2017 and in various positions at NMBU/KBM since starting his PhD in 2006, and he still enjoys close collaboration with both.
