My research interest encompasses a dynamic and interdisciplinary domain that focuses on microorganisms and their derivatives of biotechnological interest, blending fundamental structure-function studies with applied forecasts, to bridge knowledge generation and real-world innovation. I aim to unlock the vast potential of microbial systems, from engineering biocatalysts and advancing sustainable environmental solutions to driving innovations in health and welfare, food security, and synthetic biology strategies. By exploring these areas, I aim to contribute to the development of innovative strategies that address global challenges in health, sustainability, and industry.

Topics

  • Enzyme discovery, protein engineering, and enzymology of Carbohydrate-Active enZymes (CAZymes)
  • New Biocatalysis: Tailoring enzyme function
  • Valorisation of Polymeric sugars, proteins and polyphenolics sources into biologically-active compounds
  • Development of novel bioprocesses to produce high value metabolites with biotechnological applications
  • Assessment of biological functions and Identification of Innovative uses for novel biomolecules.
