My primary scientific interest is to enhance our understanding of how wildlife species interact with their environment. I am particularly interested in the impact of human activities and land use on natural ecosystems and species. My current research projects include assessing the effects of energy- and transport infrastructure, as well as forestry, on wildlife. I am the founder and leader of BatLab Norway. I have been involved in several applied ecology projects in collaboration with Norwegian management authorities and partners in the private sector. I have chaired the Mammal Committees for the Norwegian Red List for Species 2021 and the Norwegian Alien Species List 2023. I am a member of the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) where I am part of the CITES expert panel, which is the Norwegian CITES scientific authority. I am appointed by the Norwegian Environment Agency as Norway’s representative in the UNEP/Eurobats Advisory Committee.
