I am an Associate Professor in Urban and Regional Planning (BYREG) at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). My education comprise a Ph.D. in Urban Design and Development from NMBU (2022), a Master degree in Architecture from NTNU (2007) and a Bachelor degree in Building Construction BSc from NTNU Ålesund (2000). I have a broad professional experience of 18 years that ranges from strategic planning to detailed planning and design through my work in private consultancy (7 Years), public administration (4 years) and academic research and teaching (7 years).
I have an extensive interdisciplinary knowledge base, which includes knowledge of construction engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, urban design and planning. This include skills in mapping and analysis methods as well as spatial knowledge production. I have taught a range of students in urban design and planning, and are really motivated by the interaction between students, teachers and professional practice. My field of expertise covers the important transition between the realized building environment and the planned future visions, and is grounded in the field of Urban Morphology, a trans-disciplinary field of knowledge that looks at the relationship between the city's form and the processes that have created this form.
Currently I am leading the working group for establishing a experience-based master in planning for sustainable place development: Erfaringsbasert master i planlegging for bærekraftig by- og stedsutvikling | NMBU and I am a member of the working group in SITRAP - Centre for integrated and transdisciplinary teaching in planning . I am also a member of the program committee for the department (BYREG)and in a working group for a periodic evaluation of the program in 2025-26.
