Solve Sæbø has been elected as NMBU's new rector. His team received 51.37 percent of the votes.
Sæbø ran for election together with Elin Kubberød and Erik Trømborg as Pro-rectors.
Sæbø is a professor of statistics and has held most types of academic positions at NMBU, from doctoral student to professor.
He was also the Pro-rector for Education from 2017 to 2021. Starting August 1 this year, he will be the new Rector at NMBU.
"We are grateful and very humbled that Team Solve will be the rectorate at NMBU for the next four years. We are, of course, very pleased with the election results and the great trust we have received," says Sæbø.
Sæbø and his team, consisting of Pro-rector for Education Elin Kubberød and Pro-rector for Research Erik Trømborg, received 51.37% of the votes.
Vincent Eijsink, Ingunn Burud, and Thea Blystad Klem received 48.63%.
"We want to thank both Vincent Eijsink and Siri Fjellheim and their respective teams for good debates and a competitive election process. There has been fantastic engagement among employees and students and good voter turnout, and we have felt the importance of a vibrant university democracy and an informed debate," says Sæbø, adding:
"We look forward to starting the work of further developing NMBU as an attractive and excellent research and educational institution."
"I want to start by congratulating Solve Sæbø and his team. It is a great day for NMBU that we have an elected rector again. At the same time, we are disappointed. We were ready to work for NMBU and believe that we are well-suited for the task. The result was very close, and it is important that the new rectorate also listens to those who voted for us. We have expectations that NMBU will be perceived as less top-down in the future, as both teams have discussed this extensively during the campaign," says Vincent Eijsink.
Voter turnout: Employees: 1221 out of 1686 persons on the electoral roll voted (72.42%), with 21 blank votes. Students: 1010 out of 7893 persons on the electoral roll voted (12.8%), with 31 blank votes.
The new rectorate will take office August 1.

The head of the election committee at NMBU, Marit Nesje, congratulates newly elected Rector Solve Sæbø on 11 April 2025.
