Urban Lab

Urban Lab is a student-initiated project that is supported by SITRAP through funding over three years from the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills.

In addition to self-financed hours from NMBU and private sponsorship funds that the students have obtained, the initiative received NOK 3 437 003 for the period 2022 -2024 (extended to June 2025).

The funds come from the programme Measures for increased work relevance in higher education.

Urban Lab was created by students and is led by a working group.

The working group collaborates with a number of actors and external bodies, including Aspelin Ramm Eiendom, Bane NOR Eiendom, Dark Arkitekter, Drammen Municipality Real Estate Development, Geodata, HAV Eiendom, Norconsult, Norsk Eiendom, Oslo Architecture Triennale, Rodeo Arkitekter, TEKNA and Vestre.

The project also has a steering group consisting of the leaders of the student associations for landscape architecture (Terra Forma), urban planning (Struktura) and real estate (Jordskifterlaget), a representative from SITRAP, a representative from the NMBU Learning Centre, as well as representatives from NMBU's innovation environment at the EIK idea workshop.

After the project period, Urban Lab will continue in a different format, but will be a central network and contact point between SITRAP and the students.
