Workload 250 hours:

- Preparation, contract writing, start-up seminar and supervision: 20 hours

- Report Writing: 80 hours.

- Internship: 150 hours.

Teaching and exam period:The subject has teaching and assessment in both the spring semester and the autumn semester.

About this course

The subject covers practice-based learning within the field of public health. The internship provides students with insight into how actors in a relevant field operate. It offers an opportunity to apply the expertise acquired through studies in practical contexts. The experience gained from the internship aims to increase students' awareness of their own competence, contribute to their professional development, and be useful in their future careers.

The work during the internship can be spread out over the semester or concentrated within a shorter period, as agreed upon with the internship host. Internships typically cannot be conducted during the holiday period when the internship organization is on vacation, especially if it would negatively impact the quality of the internship. It’s important to note that internships is not financially compensated.

  • Learning activities
    Developed in collaboration with the supervisor, student, and the practice host, the plan should be outlined in the practice agreement with the practice host. The student may be responsible for completing individual assignments based on the needs of the company, organization, or institution’s offering the internship or may be assigned tasks to be solved as part of a team.
  • Teaching support
    Students are assigned individual supervisors. There will be a half-day seminar before the start of the internship period. Relevant information will be available in the Canvas course room created for the subject.

  • Assessment method
    A student report should detail the work performed, reflections on this work, and connections to relevant literature.

  • Examiner scheme
    The assessment setup is approved by an external sensor. In addition, there are two internal sensors, one of whom is the student’s supervisor.
  • Mandatory activity
    Half-day start seminar. August or January. The completion of the internship must be approved by the internship host.
