The University of Sheffield was founded over a hundred years ago, and wants to inspire innovative collaboration across subject areas and with individuals, businesses and organizations to solve the more pressing problems we face, both close to home and around the world. The university scores high on international rankings, and was announced as the university with the best student experiences, facilities and accommodation in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey in 2014. Sheffield, also known as the "Steel City", is located in South Yorkshire in England with approximately 1.600.000 inhabitants.

  • The agreement applies only for landscape architecture - master (M-LA & M-GLA) and PhD students. Note that Sheffield only accepts exchange students in the autumn semester. This means you must apply before the 1st of February application for exchange deadline.

    Length of stay

    1 semester - only autumn semester

    *Erasmus+: Due to Brexit, we are unable to guarantee funding for studies in the UK, this means that the Erasmus scholarship is subject to availabilty of funds.

  • For all Erasmus agreements it is necessary to have attained 60 credits with your current NMBU study program before going on an exchange.

    Language requirements
    Sheffield requires that you have a minimum of B2 or 4 in written and oral English from VGS. For more information, visit this link 

  • Autumn semester: end of August - December.
    Spring semester: end of January - end of May.

    Academic calendar

  • Erasmus students must continue to pay for NMBU’s semester fees, plus register with NMBU whilst they are on exchange. However, it is not necessary to pay any types of fees at the partner university.

  • 10 study points with Sheffiled is the equivalent to 5 study points with NMBU.
