About this course

This course provides an introduction to Data Science (data analysis methods and tools) for students in the 2-year Master of Data Science program, to prepare students from a wide range of backgrounds for the advanced courses in the master program.

Learning outcome

You will be prepared to follow 200-level courses in the Master of Data Science program, having developed sufficient compentence and skills in data analysis.
  • Learning activities
    Lectures are combined with exercises tailored to the students pre-existing skills and competences. Students will apply, test and train their skills in a data science project.
  • Teaching support
    Teaching assistants will assist and support the students.
  • Prerequisites
    Admission requirements for Master in Data Science.
  • Recommended prerequisites
    Programming equivalent to INF120.
  • Assessment method
    Portfolio examination of hand-ins. Pass/fail.

    Portfolio Grading: Passed / Not Passed
  • Examiner scheme
    The external examiner approves the setup for the portfolio evaluation of hand-ins and the examination guidelines, and evaluates the reports.

    Attendance at lectures and exercise sessions on at least 10 out of 14 days.
