Recently, there has been a growing interest in nuclear power in Norway and Europe. For many years, NMBU has carried out research in environmental chemistry and radiochemistry with a particular focus on nuclear risks. Now NMBU has created a new study program "Nuclear and Environmental Sciences" and NMBU is also part of a new national center (Norwegian Nuclear Research Centre) which will strengthen research and education in nuclear science.

Professor Deborah Oughton at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management (NMBU) will give a talk about this very thing. Why is NMBU focusing so strongly on this now? What challenges, risks and assessments are linked to nuclear energy today?

Oughton has researched radioecology and environmental pollution and she has worked extensively on the social and ethical aspects associated with radiation risk, including the effects of the Chernobyl and Fukushima accidents.

Fagprat is a series of events where we want to convey research and other activity related to NMBU in a broad-ranging way. We invite speakers both from NMBU and elsewhere. We hope to be able to put current issues on the agenda.

We serve coffee / tea and some small snack.

The events are free and open to everyone.

Welcome!
